Testimonial for ‘Choosing To Be – A Healthier Me’ course

Taking part in the course has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. Before starting, I had always struggled with eating healthy foods, and when I did eat healthy food, I would undo my good work by binging on junk food, which left me feeling frustrated and angry with myself. Over the 6 weeks I learned so much about myself and how my thoughts and emotions influence the food I choose to eat.

Three months after finishing the course, I feel so much more confident in myself. I am more comfortable in my clothes, feel better about the way I look, and now take pride in my appearance and the way I dress. I still reach for and eat junk food at times, but nowhere near as much as I used to, and now I’m aware when I’m doing it and why I’m doing it, and if I still choose to eat it, I eat it mindfully, which makes me feel in control. That awareness has been a real turning point and game changer for me.

This course also helped me recognise some of my negative thinking patterns around food, like feeling that I should never leave food and always had to clear my (and my kids) plates. Now, if I’m full, I can stop eating and leave food on my plate without feeling guilty.

I have also started taking care of myself, which I never did before because I have a busy family life and was always putting everyone else first. I now understand why my self-care is important, and have joined a yoga class which helps me feel calmer and more connected to myself. This course has transformed how I think, feel and live, and it’s given me the tools I needed to make positive changes in every area of my life.
